Property Description
House for sale in Cranbrook located in 203 14th Avenue , British Columbia, V1C2X3, Canada. This House have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. This property listing building style is 2 Level. For all the rest of the information we have about this property in Cranbrook , see above.
This grand home, situated very prominently at the core of the original townsite, was built in 1908 shortly after Cranbrook was incorporated. the same year the first model T Ford was produced. It featured four bedrooms and a bath on the second level plus a maid's quarters on that level above the kitchen. Some years after, a kitchen was installed in one of the bedrooms in the second storey creating a suite. The plumbing for this kitchen is intact in the walls of this room. Eventually the north side of the spacious living room was walled off to create a separate entrance to the second storey. This was done very tastefully creating a large bookshelf on that end of the living room which is still in place today. A separate electrical system (70 Amp) with its own meter was installed for the suite. The stairwell up to the maid's quarter from the kitchen was then used to access the second level after the family expanded and needed the upstairs bedrooms. This is how the home is currently configured. Little else in this amazing home has been altered. All the original trim, doors, and windows, oak flooring, and especially the three fireplaces are intact. The oak floors in the living room and kitchen have been beautifully refinished and the oak floor in the second level hallway has been protected under carpet. With very little expense and effort, the stairwell from the living room at the front of the house with its grand veranda could be opened again to restore this home's home 2775 sq. ft. of space back to its original configuration.
